Take that, take that...

Hola Fam! What's good? I'll tell you what's good: Take It Back Tuesday! I missed my deadline last week (as usual), and I'm pushing it today too, but Imma make it gotdamnit.

Now usually I like to take you back at least a decade. I mean, what's the point of breaking out the DeLorean and putting up with Doc Brown if you're not going way back? Well, I'm tired of that crazy motherfucker, always yellin' 'bout "One-point...twenty-one gigawatts!!" Shut the fuck up Doc! So, this time I decided to just steal Marty's skateboard and tic-tack down memory lane instead.

The inspiration for today's installment comes from all our newfound friends stopping by from around the world these days. Yes, thanks to our boys over at HHB, we've seen a pretty good increase in traffic lately...probably need to add a couple new lanes pretty soon! But I digress.

To welcome all you folks coming through for the first time, or even if you're a regular, I thought I'd break out one of my favorite cuts of all time. Like I said, we didn't need to go too far back; just six short years, and we hit 2003. The track shows some incredible lyrical dexterity, and even more impressive is the storytelling...oh, and the beat will have you begging for a neck brace by the rollout. Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for Rip City's finest: the Lifesavas, performing their seminal hit "Hellohihey"!

Lifesavas - Hellohihey (2003)

Serious, this is one of the classic singles of hip-hop history. No, I'm not saying that because they're from our little upper-left corner. It's just true. I mean, if this song doesn't end up on repeat on your mp3 player of choice, well, as Benny like's to say: Fucc that! You don't know shit about shit. Ha!

Anyway, thanks for skating through for another edition of Take it Back Tuesday. See you at the "Under the Sea" dance, if you're not... chicken!

P.S. - Man, they shoulda cast my man Vursatyl for the lead in Notorious eh?

Benny B said...'s nice to meet you! Did you really use the word "seminal"?! I, too, like to send subliminal "seminal" messages throughout the blog as much as possible! Though I'm not sure if it has actually worked yet.... Oh, hold on, "hello, yeah it's me...Roxzi is that you? Oh, hellohihey".
AAAAnnnyway, I am in complete and total agreement. This joint definitely gets heavy rotation on the ipod. New age with a classic sound. They just keep makin hit no damn vocoder!
As a matter of fact, I do believe that it was a Lifesavas concert T that you were wearing last night...and a rainbow one at that!Yo, Vursatyl does resemble B.I.G.

My bad that was a Little Brother concert T...but it was still rainbow!

yeah I had the hellohihey/what if its true 12 inch back in the day (still do lol).

Spirit in Stone was an amazing album, I was talking about it a lot last year coincedently. How I thought there would be a lot of stuff like that, but 5 years later it kind of stands alone.

I love "Me" and "L.I.F.E." on that album too. "Fo Sho" is dope, so is "Fever", that whole album is hot.

You ever hear the Fo Sho remix? That shit is fantastic. Forgot about it until you mentioned it. Imma have to dig around and see if I can find it.
